The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the 15-member Pakistani women's team for the upcoming Women's T20 World Cup 2024 to be played in the UAE from October 3 to October 20. Along with the announcement of the team, the PCB has also taken a big decision in which Nida Dar has been removed from the captaincy and Fatima Sana has been given the responsibility in her place. The biggest reason for this decision of the PCB has been the disappointing performance of the women's team for a long time. In the recently concluded Women's T20 Asia Cup, the journey of the Pakistan team ended with the semi-finals.

22-year-old Fatima Sana has played 41 ODIs and 40 T20 matches in international cricket for the Pakistani women's team so far. Fatima Sana has captained the Pakistan Emerging Team as well as has played this responsibility in domestic cricket. In the year 2023, when the Pakistani women's team won in the Super Over in the match played at Hagley Oval on the tour of New Zealand, Fatima also captained the team in that. Before Fatima, the team was captained in all formats by Nida Dar, who was made the captain in place of Bismah Maroof. The Pakistani women's team has been included in Group A along with India, Australia, New Zealand and Sri Lanka in the upcoming T20 World Cup, so everyone is waiting for the ICC to announce the revised schedule after the change of venue.
