All five franchises of the tournament have released the official lists of their retained and released players. This time, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Delhi Capitals have made the most surprising decisions, parting ways with several big and experienced names.

The BCCI rules and key auction details for the WPL 2027 season are as follows
- Squad Limit: Each franchise can include a maximum of 18 players in its squad.
- Overseas Players Limit: The 18-player squad can include a maximum of 6 overseas players.
- Auction Date and Venue: The mega auction for the 2027 Tata Women's Premier League will be held in Kochi on October 28.
- Tournament Dates: The 2027 edition of the WPL will be played from January 14 to February 7.
