Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has received approval to participate in the upcoming IPL 2025 season. However, he will only play as a full-time batsman for Lucknow Supergiants. Initially, there was uncertainty regarding the 33-year-old's participation due to injury concerns, but after consultations with specialists, he has been given the green light to play under certain conditions.
Marsh was ruled out of the Champions Trophy due to an injury, raising doubts about his availability for IPL 2025. According to the report, following rehabilitation and a thorough medical examination, Marsh has been cleared to play, albeit with restrictions.
Medical experts have advised him against bowling and recommended that he avoid excessive strain on his back while fielding.
With these conditions in place, Marsh is expected to play as an impact player for Lucknow Supergiants. His vast experience and ability to anchor the middle order make him a crucial asset for the team. Australia greatly missed his presence in the Champions Trophy, as he has been a vital component of their limited-overs squad over the years.
Marsh was also dropped from the final match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against India due to his struggles with both bat and ball, with Beau Webster taking his place. In the Big Bash League (BBL) this January, he played only one match before missing the last three games of the season to focus on his mental and physical well-being ahead of the Champions Trophy.
Unfortunately, recurring back pain prevented him from participating in the ICC tournament.
Now that he has received medical clearance for IPL 2025, Marsh will aim to make a significant impact with the bat, helping Lucknow Supergiants in their quest for their first-ever IPL title.
