Team India have suffered another setback ahead of the third T20 International against New Zealand. Wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan has been ruled out of the IND vs NZ 3rd T20I as he has not yet regained full match fitness following his injury.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed the development through an official statement on Monday morning. Ishan's continued absence could give young batter Vaibhav Suryavanshi another opportunity in India's playing XI.

India have already taken a 2-0 lead in the five-match T20I series after winning the opening two matches. The Suryakumar Yadav-led side will now aim to win the third game and seal the series.

Why Is Ishan Kishan Missing the IND vs NZ 3rd T20I?

Ishan Kishan sustained an injury during the first T20 International against New Zealand. Due to this injury, he missed the second match of the series.

Initially, the BCCI had confirmed his absence only for the second T20I. However, the latest update has confirmed that Ishan will also miss the third match scheduled for October 27 in Wellington.

According to the BCCI, the wicketkeeper-batter is recovering well but has not achieved the match fitness required to return to competitive cricket.

BCCI Releases Official Update on Ishan Kishan's Injury

The BCCI shared an official statement on its social media account, confirming Ishan Kishan's unavailability for the third T20I.

The board stated that Ishan is making good progress in his recovery from the injury sustained during the opening match. However, he still needs to regain full match fitness.

The BCCI medical team is closely monitoring his recovery and progress. The board also confirmed that Kumar Kushagra will continue to remain with the Indian squad for the third T20 International.

Will Vaibhav Suryavanshi Get Another Chance Against New Zealand?

Ishan Kishan's continued absence could open the door for young batter Vaibhav Suryavanshi to feature in another match.

Vaibhav was included in India's playing XI for the second T20I as a replacement for Ishan. With the senior wicketkeeper-batter unavailable again, the youngster is likely to remain in contention for the third match.

Another opportunity against New Zealand would be important for Vaibhav to showcase his batting talent and strengthen his position in the Indian team.

However, his inclusion in the playing XI will depend on the final decision of the team management.
