India and England will clash in the first ODI of the three-match series, which will begin on Wednesday, February 6 at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur. After winning the T20I series by a 4-1 margin under the captaincy of Suryakumar Yadav, Team India is all set to play in the 50-over format of the game.
Ahead of the white-ball series, the men's selection committee announced the 15-member squad that will play in the England series and the Champions Trophy 2025 in Dubai. The board had announced that pacer Jasprit Bumrah will not be available for the first two matches and Harshit Rana will be part of the squad in his absence. However, two days ahead of the series, the governing body announced the inclusion of mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy in the squad.
Bumrah, who is recovering from a back injury, is expected to stay at the NCA, Bengaluru to get fully fit before heading into the prestigious tournament. Notably, India will play three ODIs in Nagpur, Cuttack, and Ahmedabad. Hence, they would look to field their strongest playing XI to beat the visiting team at their home ground in the series opener.
