WCPL 2026: Harleen Deol Enters Caribbean League, Joins Defending Champions Barbados Tridents
Star batter of the Indian women's team, Harleen Deol, is all set to make her debut in the Women's Caribbean Premier League (WCPL) 2026. She has joined the defending champions, Barbados Tridents, for the remainder of the tournament.
Harleen has arrived in Barbados and joined the squad as the fifth overseas player. Since she is currently not part of India's senior or 'India A' teams, she will be available to the franchise for the entire duration of the tournament.
Growing Presence of Indian Players in WCPL
With Harleen's inclusion, the number of Indian players in WCPL 2026 has risen to five. Indian stars now account for one-fourth of the total 20 overseas player slots in the league:
- Barbados Tridents: Harleen Deol, Kiran Navgire, and Pooja Vastrakar
- Trinbago Knight Riders: Shikha Pandey and Yastika Bhatia
Harleen's Record in T20s and WPL
- International T20I: Harleen has played 28 T20 International matches for India, scoring 311 runs across 20 innings at a strike rate of 92.01. She played her last match for India against Australia in March.
- Women's Premier League (WPL): Representing Gujarat Giants and UP Warriorz in the WPL, she has scored 649 runs in 28 matches at a strike rate of 115.68.
Barbados faces the challenge of defending the title
Defending champions Barbados Tridents did not get off to a good start this season. They suffered a 21-run defeat against Trinbago Knight Riders in the tournament's opening match on September 5. The team is now set to face Jamaica Empress on Saturday and Guyana Amazon Warriors on Sunday, with Harleen's presence expected to bolster the team's middle order.
