IND vs BAN Series 2026: Great news has emerged for cricket fans in India and Bangladesh. After a year of strained relations between the two nations, an on-field clash could soon be on the cards. According to reports by TOI and Cricbuzz, the BCCI and BCB are preparing to jointly organize a six-match white-ball series (comprising 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is) in the first week of September.
IND vs BAN 2026 Series: Key Details & Proposed Schedule
- Dates & Timeline: Both boards aim to complete the series between September 1 and September 13 to avoid disrupting their busy upcoming schedules.
- Match Venues: The BCB has proposed hosting the three T20Is in Dhaka and the three ODIs in Chattogram. If necessary, the BCB is also willing to host all matches in a single city.
- IND vs AFG T20I Series Rescheduled: To make time for the Bangladesh tour, the BCCI plans to reschedule the India-Afghanistan T20 series originally slated for Delhi.
- Tight Schedule Challenge: The Asian Games begin on September 24, and the West Indies team is scheduled to tour India starting September 27. Consequently, the boards have no window available other than September 1–13.

Government Approval & Improving Diplomatic Relations

Cricket ties between the two nations had cooled last year due to political tensions. However, the Indian government has recently invited Bangladesh's Prime Minister, Tarique Rahman, to the 18th BRICS Summit scheduled for September.
The resumption of diplomatic dialogue has significantly boosted hopes for the revival of cricketing ties. While final approval for the tour rests with the Indian government (Ministry of External Affairs), both cricket boards are fully prepared and awaiting the green light.
