The second day of the fourth Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy is over. Till stumps on the second day, the Indian team has scored 164 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in the first innings. Apart from Yashasvi Jaiswal, no batsman could do anything special.
Jaiswal played an innings of 82 runs off 118 balls. There was a partnership of 102 runs between Yashasvi and Virat Kohli. However, Jaiswal was unfortunately run out. There was a lack of coordination between Virat Kohli and Yashasvi Jaiswal. Yashasvi Jaiswal had to pay the price for this by losing his wicket.
There was a heated debate between former cricketers Sanjay Manjrekar and Irfan Pathan about who was at fault behind Jaiswal's wicket. Manjrekar said that Virat should have reacted to Jaiswal's decision and taken a single as he was at the danger end. However, Irfan Pathan did not agree with this. Pathan said that Kohli was also in danger of being run out at the striker's end as Jaiswal's shot was very powerful.
Manjrekar said, 'The ball was going slow, I don't think Kohli would have been run out. It was Jaiswal's decision. Maybe it was a risky run, but he was at the risk end, not Kohli. It was Virat's mistake that he looked back and decided that it was not a run, if it had been Jaiswal's wrong decision, he would have been out at the non-striker end.'
Irfan opposed Manjrekar and said that Kohli was probably not confident to take the run because he saw how fast the ball went to fielder Pat Cummins. As a non-striker, Virat also has the right to refuse to take a run if he feels it is risky. During this, there was a mild argument between Irfan and Manjrekar. Manjrekar even had to say, 'If you don't want to let me talk, then it's okay.'
