England Name 5 Uncapped Players for Historic Lord's Test Against India

England has announced a dynamic 15-member squad for the upcoming one-off Test match against India, scheduled to begin on July 10 at Lord's. This fixture is set to be a monumental milestone for women’s cricket, marking the first-ever women’s Test match to be played at the historic venue.

In a significant leadership shift, Nat Sciver-Brunt will captain England in a Test match for the very first time. She will lead a squad that blends seasoned veterans like Heather Knight, Tammy Beaumont, and Amy Jones with a fresh wave of talent eager to make their mark in the longest format of the game.

Five Fresh Faces in the Mix

Looking to build for the future, selectors have included five players who are yet to feature in Test cricket:

  • Alice Capsey
  • Tilly Corteen-Coleman
  • Mady Villiers
  • Grace Potts (Uncapped at international level)
  • Ellie Threlkeld (Uncapped at international level)

Major Omissions from the Ashes Squad

The squad features sweeping changes from England's last Test assignment against Australia in the 2024-25 Women's Ashes. Several prominent names have been left out, including Sophia Dunkley, Bess Heath, Danni Wyatt-Hodge, Charlie Dean, Ryana MacDonald-Gay, and veteran pacer Kate Cross.

"We have selected a strong Test squad under the leadership of Nat Sciver-Brunt for what will be another historic few days at Lord's for women's cricket," said Clare Connor, ECB Managing Director of Women's Cricket.
"Test cricket is a rare and wonderfully challenging experience in the women's game... For the 11 women who will get the chance to be the first to enjoy that feeling at Lord's, it will be a moment to savour."
