Thanks to this stellar performance, Bangladesh climbed three places in the rankings, overtaking formidable teams like Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and the West Indies.

After the second Test, Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto expressed happiness over this achievement, although the disappointment of losing the match was also evident on his face. Shanto said:
"Reaching the sixth spot is certainly great news. Reaching this position in the Test rankings is a huge achievement for us. However, the joy would have been doubled had we played slightly better cricket in this second Test match."

Shanto Urges ICC and Cricket Australia for More Overseas Test Tours

The Bangladesh team had arrived in Australia to play a Test series after a long wait of 23 years since 2003. Reflecting on the challenges of playing in such conditions against a strong team, Captain Shanto called upon the ICC and Cricket Australia to arrange more tours.
He stated that if the Bangladesh team gets regular opportunities to play in Australia, the players will gain a better understanding of the local pitches and playing conditions. This will enable the team to adapt to such an environment and perform even better in the future.
