Asian Games 2026:India has achieved a hat-trick of gold medals in archery at the 20th Asian Games. The third gold completing the hat-trick was won in the men's compound team event. Prior to this, India had secured gold medals in the women's compound team event and the mixed compound team event.
In the final, India's men's compound team faced Chinese archers and defeated them in a dramatic fashion. It was dramatic because, at one point, the Indian trio of Ganesh, Sahil, and Kushal was trailing in the men's compound team event final.
India Wins Gold After Trailing China
In the men's compound team event final, the Indian trio of archers Ganesh, Sahil, and Kushal defeated China 238–237.
China appeared to have the upper hand for the first three ends of the final match. However, the tide turned in the fourth end, and India secured the gold medal.
Archery Gold Hat-trick
This marks the second gold medal for Sahil Jadhav, a member of the Indian trio. He had previously won gold in the mixed compound team event alongside Chikita.
With the success of the Indian men's compound team, India has secured its third gold medal in archery at the 20th Asian Games. In other words, India has achieved a hat-trick of gold medals in archery.
India Bags 10th Gold
