India has secured a total of 71 medals (including 12 gold medals) in the tournament so far. This marks India's second-most successful performance in the long history of the Asian Games.

India achieved a record 106 medals at the 2022 Asian Games (Hangzhou), marking its best-ever performance to date. Given the pace at which Indian athletes are adding to the medal tally at the 2026 Asian Games, it is highly likely that India will easily cross the 80-medal mark this time.

Archery: Men's Recurve Team Bags Silver Medal

Delivering an impressive performance, the men's recurve archery team secured a silver medal for the country, marking India's 71st medal of the games.
The trio of Dhiraj Bommadevara, Yashdeep Bhoge, and Neeraj Chauhan had made a commanding run to reach the final. However, in the gold medal match, the South Korean team, considered the strongest in the world, defeated India 5-1.

In the final match, the Indian team put up a tough fight against the precision of the South Korean archers, but ultimately, the Korean team emerged victorious:
- First Set: India 56 - 56 Korea (Tied; points shared 1-1)

- Third Set: India 54 - 56 Korea (Korea secured 2 points)
Despite a spirited effort, the Indian team had to settle for the silver medal; however, this medal brought India's total tally to 71, making these Asian Games historic for the country.
