IND vs NZ:When New Zealand posted 198 runs in Wellington, it seemed that Team India might face some difficulty chasing that total. However, Abhishek Sharma and Vaibhav Suryavanshi made the target look quite small. The duo batted aggressively, racking up 100 runs in just 5 overs.

Abhishek Sharma, in particular, took the Kiwi bowlers to the cleaners, bringing up his half-century in just 15 balls. This marks his fastest half-century on foreign soil and his second-fastest in T20 Internationals.

Record-breaking partnership by Abhishek Sharma and Suryavanshi

Abhishek Sharma and Vaibhav Suryavanshi provided Team India with a start that New Zealand likely did not anticipate. The duo stitched together a 50-run partnership in just 2.2 overs.

This stands as the fastest 50-run partnership by any team. Subsequently, Abhishek and Vaibhav reached the 100-run mark in just 5 overs the fastest century partnership by any team.

Furthermore, Abhishek Sharma and Vaibhav Suryavanshi achieved the feat of scoring the most runs in a powerplay. India amassed 118 runs in 6 overs, which is the highest score by any team in a powerplay. India broke the world record previously held by Australia, who had scored 113 runs against Scotland.

Abhishek Sharma Scores a Century

In this match, Abhishek Sharma scored 113 runs off just 38 balls. By reaching his century in only 35 deliveries, the left-handed batter set the record for the fastest T20 century by an Indian player on foreign soil. Abhishek Sharma hit 11 sixes during his innings.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi Misses Out on a Half-Century

While Abhishek Sharma brought up his half-century in 14 balls, Vaibhav Suryavanshi fell short of the milestone; he was dismissed after scoring 45 runs off 19 balls. During his knock, Vaibhav struck 4 sixes and 4 fours.

He lost his wicket to Daryl Mitchell while attempting to hit a six off a delivery from Matt Fisher. Nevertheless, the start he provided alongside Abhishek Sharma effectively took New Zealand out of the contest. It is worth noting that in the previous match, Suryavanshi had been sent in at the number three position, where he managed only 4 runs.

Questions had been raised regarding the decision not to send him out to open the batting. This time, he opened the innings and together with Abhishek, he went on to break record after record.
