Pitch Report

The pitch at the Lord’s is favourable to bowlers. Pacers, specifically, can extract more help from this pitch due to its pace and bounce. They would look to swing the ball and trouble batters, while batters should think of a way to counter the swing

Lords History

Lord's Cricket Ground, commonly known as Lord's, is a cricket ground in St John's Wood, London. It is named after its founder, Thomas Lord; the ground is owned by the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) and has been home to Middlesex County Cricket Club, the England and Wales Cricket Club (ECB), the European Cricket Council (ECC) and, until August 2005, the International Cricket Council (ICC). Lord's is referred to as the "Home of Cricket" and is also home to the world's oldest sports museum.

Lord's today is not at its original location, it is the third of three grounds established by Lord between 1787 and 1814. His first ground, now known as Lord's Old Ground, was located near today's Dorset Square. The other ground is Lord's Middle Ground which was used from 1811 to 1813, when it was closed due to the construction of the Regent's Canal which runs through its outfield. The current Lord's ground is located 250 yards (230 m) north-west of the Middle Ground. A major reconstruction scheme is proposed at Lord's which will add 10,000 additional seats to the ground, as well as apartments and an ice rink.

According to available information, the first match played at the current Lord's was between Marylebone Cricket Club and Hertfordshire on 22 June 1814.

The oldest cricket fixture at Lord's (which is still being played) is the Eton v Harrow match which was first played on the old ground in July 1805 and at the current Lord's in July 1818.
