WTC 2025-27 Most Wickets: On Wednesday, August 19, 28-year-old English fast bowler Josh Tongue achieved a significant milestone in international Test cricket. He etched his name in the record books by becoming the first bowler in the world to cross the 50-wicket mark in the 2025-27 ICC World Test Championship (WTC) cycle.

Tongue achieved this feat during the first Test match against Pakistan at Headingley, Leeds. Bowling brilliantly in the first innings, he claimed 5 wickets for just 45 runs (5/45). Can Josh Tongue Break Stuart Broad WTC Record?

The record for the most wickets taken by an England player in a single WTC edition is held by Stuart Broad (69 wickets, 2019–21).

England still has several matches remaining in the 2025–27 campaign. Given the excellent bowling form Josh Tongue is displaying, he has a fantastic opportunity to break Broad's national record. Furthermore, if he maintains this form, he could even approach the tallies of legends like Nathan Lyon (88 wickets) and Pat Cummins (80 wickets) in the all-time overall record list.
