Will Pujara play for Sussex in the 2024 county season

Cheteshwar Pujara will play for the Sussex team in the 2024 county season. He has signed with Sussex for the first 7 matches of the county. Sussex has also included Australian batsman Daniel Hughes in the team as the second foreign player. This is Pujara's third season for Sussex in the county. Pujara has so far played 18 Championship matches for Sussex, in which he has scored 1,863 runs at an average of 64.24.

He has also scored eight centuries and three half-centuries during this period. His highest score in the county was 231 runs in 2022 against Derbyshire. He had a partnership of 351 runs with Tom Haines. Pujara's highest score for Sussex in 2023 was 151 runs. He played this innings against Gloucestershire, which included 20 fours and two sixes.

Pujara said in a statement, 'I had a great time at Hove last season. It feels great to be reunited with the Sussex family once again. I look forward to joining the team and contributing to its success.

Sussex head coach Paul Farbrace said: 'I am delighted that Cheteshwar is returning to Hove for the first two months of the season. He is not only a good player but also a better person. His experience is very important for our team.

Has not been selected in Test for South Africa tour

Pujara has not been given a place in the team for the South Africa tour. The Indian team has to play a three-Test series in the last part of the South Africa tour. Cheteshwar Pujara has not been included in the squad in this series. Pujara played his last Test in the home series against Australia in June.

Pujara's international cricket career

The 35-year-old right-handed batsman Cheteshwar Pujara last played in the World Test Championship final in June 2023. He could score only 14 runs in the first innings and 27 runs in the second innings. He has scored a total of 7195 runs in 103 Test matches at an average of 43.60, which includes 19 centuries and 35 half-centuries. His best score during this period is 206 runs unbeaten. Apart from this, he has scored 51 runs in 5 ODIs.
