This clash features two of the most successful teams: the Chennai Super Kings and the Mumbai Indians. More than a month has passed since the tournament began, yet Dhoni has not appeared in a single match so far.
Michael Hussey’s Update on MS Dhoni’s Calf Injury and Recovery
During the pre-match press conference, Michael Hussey revealed that Dhoni's recovery is progressing quite rapidly. According to Hussey:
- Dhoni has nearly recovered from his calf injury.
- He is practicing both batting and wicketkeeping in the nets in excellent fashion.
- The biggest challenge remains 'running between the wickets'. Hussey clarified that MS Dhoni will not take the field until he is 100% confident regarding his running speed and calf strength.

Although Dhoni has been seen hitting massive sixes in the nets and Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya was even spotted keeping a close watch on his practice session the team management has not yet received the 'green signal' from Dhoni confirming his availability to play.
According to reports, the final decision will be taken a few hours before the toss (around 5 PM). If he does not feel fully fit, fans may have to wait until the next match to witness his return.
