Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Delhi Capitals (DC) will face off on Sunday, May 17, in the 62nd match of the Indian Premier League 2026This match will be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Rajasthan currently sits in fifth place on the points table and is one of the top contenders to secure a spot in the playoffs. A victory against DC would bring them even closer to cementing a place in the top four.
On the other hand, Delhi is one of the weakest teams this season. Another defeat would extinguish their playoff hopes. Even if they manage to win their next two matches, there is still no guarantee that they will qualify for the playoffs. DC captain Axar Patel won the toss and elected to field first. Spinner Kuldeep Yadav is once again left out of DC's Playing XI; he had also missed the previous match against Punjab Kings.
Why is Kuldeep Yadav missing the DC vs RR clash?
Kuldeep has been overlooked for this match. He was dropped from the squad during the previous game against PBKS, when DC made several changes to their Playing XI. Against RR, the Capitals have included Tripuran Vijay as a spinner in their Playing XI; he is also making his IPL debut. Captain Axar serves as the team's second spinner.
Speaking at the toss, Axar Patel said, We would like to bowl first. Obviously, when you win, it feels good, and the atmosphere remains positive as well. Even when we were losing, the atmosphere was still good; it wasn't as if we were pointing fingers at anyone. But when you come off a win, you carry that confidence forward. There is just one change in the team. Considering the nature of the pitch, unfortunately, Aquib Nabi is out, and Vijay Tripurana is making his debut in his place.
Kuldeep Yadav IPL 2026
Kuldeep Yadav has struggled significantly with his form in IPL 2026. The left-arm spinner has taken 7 wickets in 11 matches, but his economy rate stands at 10.66, which is quite high. In his last three matches, Kuldeep failed to take any wickets and also proved to be somewhat expensive. He has been unable to deliver his best performance this season.
