Why Did CSK Sack Their Entire Coaching Staff Ahead of IPL 2027?: Chennai Super Kings (CSK), one of the most successful franchises in the IPL, has taken a major and surprising decision. In a significant overhaul of their support staff, the management has parted ways with five key coaches, including Michael Hussey, Eric Simons, and James Foster. Following the departure of Stephen Fleming, Zaheer Khan has been appointed as the new Head Coach; however, one question remains on the minds of the fans why did CSK choose to replace their entire coaching setup at once?

CSK has long been known for placing its trust in its core management and coaching staff. However, the team’s performance over the last two IPL seasons (2025 and 2026) was disappointing, with the side failing to reach the playoffs on both occasions. This came as a major blow to a franchise otherwise renowned for its consistency. The management believes that the team requires a fresh vision and a new perspective, which necessitated this tough decision.

Michael Hussey had long served as the Batting Coach for CSK, but in recent seasons, the top and middle-order batting lacked the aggressive approach essential for modern T20 cricket. Meanwhile, under Bowling Coach Eric Simons, the bowling unit’s inability to perform effectively during the death overs coupled with a failure to develop new fast-bowling talent became a major concern for the management.
