25-year-old Sophie says, 'Nothing could have been better than this for me. I am able to work as a painter and am also a professional cricketer. Sophie got her first chance in cricket career very late. Despite being from Australia, she was failing to get a place in the domestic team there, after which she tried to make a place in the England county team. In the end she was successful.
He got his first break in 2019 from Worcestershire. She was playing in this club with 2017 World Cup winning captain Heather Knight and Anya Shrubsole. Sophie played 50+ matches for Worcestershire. Just a few months later, Sophie was selected as a net bowler in the 2020 Women's T20 World Cup. Where he bowled to the stars of New Zealand, India and Australia.
Later in the BBL, he also played for home teams Melbourne Stars and Victoria. Recalling that moment, she says, 'You don't know that small opportunities later lead to the fulfillment of a big dream. I have also picked up drinks for Team Victoria when I was not under contract with them. During that time, I used to ask many questions to the players present in the team and try to learn.
Sophie tells that Victoria Cricket helped her a lot in her painting career. Due to starting cricket late, she was able to get a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Melbourne. However, she is not the only one in her household who juggles two careers. Sophie's father is a writer as well as a cricketer.
Sophie says that she keeps competing with her father about running two careers simultaneously. He had organized an exhibition named 'The Art of Cricket', in which his Victoria teammate also attended.
