Top 5 bowlers to watch out for in Ranji Trophy 2024

The Ranji Trophy 2023–24 began with the competition's first round taking place in various Indian cities. From January 5 to March 14, 137 first-class matches will be played, with 32 teams competing in Elite Groups and six teams competing in the Plate division.

The Ranji Trophy has historically aided Indian cricketers without caps in getting called up to the national squad. It also gives the cricket players who were cut from the national team a chance to show off their skills and play in international competitions once more.

The bowling department of the Indian Test squad is now going through a gradual shift. The selectors will enable the best players to represent India 'A' and will closely monitor the Ranji Trophy 2023–24. Here is a list of five bowlers to be aware of during the match.

1. Umran Malik: Jammu and Kashmir

In the 2021 Indian Premier League, Umran Malik gained notoriety when, while playing for the Sunrisers Hyderabad, he recorded a speedometer reading of 150 kmph. Malik made his debut for India and was awarded the IPL 2022 Emerging Player of the Season title. His performances, meanwhile, fell short of what was anticipated. He was then removed from the Indian squad.

Red-ball cricket is the ideal technique for Malik to improve his accuracy, according to several specialists. He is competing in the Ranji Trophy 2023–24 with the Jammu and Kashmir squad. Seeing how Malik does with the red ball will be intriguing.

2. Jaydev Unadkat: Saurashtra

India has been searching for an all-rounder with pace bowling since Hardik Pandya suffered a serious back injury during the Test match. While Shardul Thakur has performed admirably for the squad, he hasn't been reliable.

Captain of Saurashtra Jaydev Unadkat has put in a lot of work on his batting as well as his ball-handling skills. Unadkat, a left-arm bowler, has the potential to rejoin India's Test team if he performs admirably in the Ranji Trophy 2023–24.

3. Prashant Solanki: Maharashtra

When Prashant Solanki participated in two IPL 2022 matches for the Chennai Super Kings, he captured the interest of the crowd. He remains a member of the CSK team and has been selected in the Maharashtra team for the 2023–24 Ranji Trophy.

Solanki possesses the ability to succeed in every format. If given the chance, he can help Maharashtra win the match.

4. Rahul Chahar: Rajasthan

Despite playing in the red-ball format for India 'A', Rahul Chahar has not yet been called up to the senior Indian Test team. The leg-spinner has demonstrated his ability to win white-ball cricket matches. Additionally, he competed for India in the 2021 ICC T20 World Cup.

Chahar can join the Indian Test team if he continuously wins matches for Rajasthan in the Ranji Trophy 2023–2024.

5. Arzan Nagwaswalla: Gujarat

Arzan Nagwaswalla, a left-arm fast bowler from Gujarat, has played for both the support bowlers' team and the Indian Test team. The Gujarat team management will have high expectations for Nagwaswalla this season because of his consistently good performance for the squad.

In the pace attack, skipper Chintan Gaja will support Nagwaswalla. Seeing how the left-arm fast bowler does in the Ranji Trophy 2023–2024 would be fascinating.
