Together, Troy Johnson and Nick Kelly produced an incredible catch that has the potential to win catch of the year. The incredible scene occurred during Super Smash 2023–24 season's Match 22. Will Young, a dangerous Kiwi batsman, was dismissed by Nick Kelly and Troy Johnson for a meagre seven runs off Michael Snedden, but their heroic efforts were useless as Wellington lost badly to Central Stages by six wickets.
Uncertainty was apparent immediately after the grab, and Johnson's teammates celebrated by tossing the ball upstairs for a referral. TV umpire Derek Walker watched the tape once again to make sure Johnson had touched the rope before sending the ball in, but ultimately concluded it was a clean attempt.

Perhaps the catch of the summer was made by Jake Fraser-McGurk, who leapt high to remove Adelaide Strikers' top batsman Jake Weatherald with a one-hand screamer. Before landing safely in the play area, the 19-year-old looked to linger for a few seconds after leaping onto the boundary rope and snatching the ball out of the air. It was the high point of the Melbourne Renegades' exciting last-ball, two-run triumph over the Big Bash wooden spoon team, which they had won two straight.

Tom Cooper of the Melbourne Renegades, a cricket player, made an incredible catch on the boundary to further ignite the BBL. These days, it's not uncommon to see amazing catches made close to the boundary line; practically every game results in a catch at the ropes. Philip Salt of the Adelaide Strikers was dismissed by Tom Cooper with a similar catch. As Cooper stood watch over the deep mid-wicket boundary, Jack Wildermuth's ball was hit right at him by Salt. After stepping within the boundary and catching the ball, he threw it into the air, regained his balance, and returned to the field to finish the catch.

Sydney Sixers fast bowler Jackson Bird used a unique catch involving his legs to get rid of Brisbane Heat wicket-keeper batsman Jimmy Peirson during the 35th game of the current 10th season of the Big Bash League at the Carrara Oval. All of it began on the second delivery of the fifteenth over, when Peirson, batting in the power surge, hit a Jake Ball delivery and found Bird at extra cover. Bird was unable to catch the ball on his first attempt despite timing his jump perfectly to avoid a harsh impact. But in an odd turn of events, he found himself falling and using both of his legs to keep the ball from hitting the ground.

After making an incredible play in the deep to assist the Perth Scorchers in winning, Chris Jordan executed one of the greatest catches in BBL history. Large-scale scores from Mitchell Marsh and Cameron Bancroft helped the Perth Scorchers record a massive 7-197 as they dominated. Fans were jumping out of their seats, though, because of Jordan's unbelievable grab in the deep. Dan Christian was being bowled by Fawad Ahmed when the big batter attempted to clear the ropes. The impact was sharp and level, sending debris hurtling down to the far side, but Jordan was tearing up the landscape. Subsequently, he leapt to his right and unleashed a powerful scream that enthralled the audience.
