South Africa has announced a 15-member squad for the three-match T20 International series against West Indies starting on 23 August. 18-year-old fast bowler Kwena Maphaka and all-rounder Jason Smith have got a place in the South Africa squad for the first time. Kwena Maphaka was the highest wicket-taker in the ICC Under-19 World Cup 2024. He took 21 wickets in just six matches. This includes taking five wickets in an innings thrice. Maphaka also made his IPL debut representing Mumbai Indians.
Smith has a lot of experience playing in South African domestic cricket. Proteas white ball coach Rob Walter expressed happiness over the inclusion of Mphaka and Smith in the team.
The coach said We are excited to add Jason Smith and Kwena Mphaka to the squad. Jason's recent performances have been impressive and his ability to contribute with both bat and ball will add depth to our squad. Kwena has a lot of talent and this tour is an opportunity for him to gain valuable international experience.
South Africa has rested David Miller, Tabrez Shamsi, Keshav Maharaj and Kagiso Rabada. Walter said, "Many players have not been included for this series because their workload management is necessary.

The first match of the three-match T20 International series between West Indies and South Africa will be played on 23 August. After this, the next two matches will be played on 25 and 27 August respectively. Trinidad will host all three matches.
