Rajasthan Royals won the first bidding war of the IPL 2024 auction when they defeated Kolkata Knight Riders to acquire West Indies. Rovman Powell on Tuesday for Rs 7.40 crore. Later in the day, RR also bought Shubham Dubey for Rs 5.8 crore after struggling in the bidding war that had started with him. Rs 20 lakh base price.
Powell has appeared in 66 T20Is and also captained the West Indies in this format, scoring 1,202 runs, including one century and five fifties.
The Rajasthan Royals franchise also spent money for Shubham Dubey, who they bought for ₹5.8 crore. Dubey is a middle-order batsman for Vidarbha and scored 221 runs at a strike rate of less than 190 in seven innings in the recently concluded Syed Mushtaq Trophy. He was an impressive player during Virat's historic chase of 213 runs against Bengal, scoring 58 runs off 20 balls. Meanwhile, Tom Kohler-Cadmore (₹40 lakh), Abid Mushtaq (₹50 lakh) also joined RR (₹20 lakh) and Nandre Berger.
