Afghanistan's premier spinner Rashid Khanhas achieved a remarkable milestone in the Indian Premier League (IPL), becoming the third-fastest bowler to reach 150 wickets. This historic feat came during Gujarat Titans' opening match against Punjab Kings in Ahmedabad.
Despite Gujarat Titans' narrow 11-run defeat, Rashid’s single wicket in the match was enough to surpass India’s Jasprit Bumrah in the record books. The Afghan spinner reached the 150-wicket mark in just 122 matches, trailing only Yuzvendra Chahal (118 matches) and Lasith Malinga (105 matches).

However, Rashid had a challenging evening in this particular match. On a batting-friendly pitch, he conceded 48 runs in his four overs at an economy rate of 12.00, managing just one wicket. His lone success came against debutant Priyansh Arya.
Punjab Kings were in a dominant position during the powerplay, scoring at a run rate exceeding 12. Gujarat Titans' captain Shubman Gill introduced Rashid into the attack, and he managed to break the momentum by dismissing Arya, who had scored a quickfire 47 off 23 balls. Rashid’s tossed-up delivery induced a loose shot from Arya, resulting in a top edge caught by Sai Sudharsan.
Despite Rashid’s breakthrough, Punjab Kings posted a formidable total of 243/5. Their captain, Shreyas Iyer, remained unbeaten on 97, while Shashank Singh added a crucial unbeaten 44.
In response, Gujarat Titans put up a valiant fight but fell short by 11 runs on their home ground.
