Nine teams have secured their places for the ODI World Cup to be held in India. At the same time, the last team to qualify for the World Cup will be decided through the match between Scotland and the Netherlands. The match between Scotland and Netherlands will be played on 6 July.
Qualification Scenarios - ICC ODI Cricket World Cup 2023 is to be played on Indian soil in the month of October-November. A total of 10 teams are going to participate in the ODI World Cup. For this, eight teams had already confirmed their places, while the remaining two teams were to be decided through the Cricket World Cup Qualifier which is currently being played in Zimbabwe.
Through this World Cup qualifier, Sri Lanka has also confirmed its place for the tournament to be held in India. That is, there is a competition between Scotland and the Netherlands for the remaining spot. The performance of teams like West Indies, and Zimbabwe has not been much and they are out of this race.
To be seen, the last team to qualify for the ODI World Cup will be decided through the match between Scotland and Netherlands on 6th July. If Scotland wins this match then it will definitely qualify. But even in case of defeat, Scotland can qualify, but in this case the margin of defeat should be less than 30 runs.
On the other hand, Netherlands will be able to qualify for the World Cup only if it wins by a margin of more than 30 runs or chases down the target with six overs to spare. In such a situation, the Netherlands will be able to overtake Zimbabwe and Scotland and reach the second position in terms of net-runrate. In case of cancellation of the match, Scotland will qualify with seven points.
