Paris Olympics 2024: Balraj Panwar reaches quarter-finals in rowing: India's Balraj Panwar has entered the quarter-finals of the men's single sculls category of the rowing event. Balraj, who missed direct qualification in the heat, has kept his hopes alive through the repechage at the Paris Olympics on Sunday. Balraj qualified for the last eight by finishing second in Repechage-2. The top two players from each repechage were to enter the quarter-finals. Now Balraj will challenge for the last eight on Tuesday.
Panwar finished second in seven minutes 12.41 seconds. Ahead of him was Monaco's Quentin Antonelli who took 7:10:00 minutes. Indonesia's Memo finished third with a time of 7:19:60 minutes. On Saturday, Panwar finished fourth with a time of 7:07:11 minutes and could not reach the quarter-finals directly, but he qualified for the repechage round, due to which he got a second chance to reach the last eight.
In Repechage-1, Slovenia's Ivan Isak Zvegelj and Paraguay's Javier Insfran finished first and second respectively with timings of 7:06:90 minutes and 7:08:29 minutes. In Repechage-3, Algeria's Ali Sid Boudina finished first with a timing of 7:10:23 minutes, while Chun Win Chiu finished second with a timing of 7:12:94 minutes and managed to enter the quarter-finals.

Balraj remained in second place throughout the race. He covered the 500 meter distance in one minute 44:13 seconds, the 1000 meter distance in three minutes 33:94 seconds and then the 1500 meter distance in five minutes 23:22 seconds. After this, he completed the 2000 meter race in seven minutes 12.41 seconds.
