Lucknow Shivam Mavi ruled out of IPL 2024 due to injury

Lucknow Super Giants have suffered a big blow as their fast bowler Shivam Mavi has been ruled out of the current season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024). The franchise announced the news through a social media video. Despite being bought by LSG for a huge sum of Rs 6.4 crore in last year's auction, Mavi did not get a chance to play a single match.

Shivam Mavi has been battling injuries since August last year and has not taken part in any competitive match since then. Although he was initially included in India's Asian Games squad, he had to withdraw due to a back injury. After this, Lucknow Super Giants bought him in the auction with the hope of his contribution to the team. But now he is out of the entire season due to injury.

Shivam Mavi was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders in the 2018 IPL auction for a huge sum of Rs 3 crore. He made his Twenty20 debut on 14 April 2018 against Sunrisers Hyderabad. That season, Mavi played 9 matches and took 5 wickets at an economy rate of 9.64. KKR retained him for the 2020 IPL season. Mavi took 9 wickets in 8 matches in IPL 2020. The 2021 IPL season was very good for Mavi. That season, Mavi took 11 wickets at an economy rate of 7.24 in 9 matches for KKR, in which he gave his best bowling performance in the IPL by taking 4 wickets for 21 runs against Rajasthan Royals.

In the 2022 IPL auction, KKR again brought him into their team for Rs 7.25 crore. He finished the 2022 IPL season with 5 wickets in 6 matches at an average of 45.40 and an economy of 10.31. In the 2023 IPL auction, Gujarat Titans bought him for Rs 6 crore, while his base price was Rs 40 lakh. In the 2024 IPL auction, Gujarat Titans re-inducted Mavi into their team for Rs 6.40 crore.
