Due to the brilliant bowling of Ashwin, the Indian team all out Australia for 480 runs in the first innings in the third session of the second day. Along with this, R Ashwin also broke the record of former leg-spinner Anil Kumble in taking the most number of five-wicket hauls on Indian soil.

  5. James Anderson (Eng) - 24 5 wicket hauls

With this, R Ashwin has become the first Indian bowler to take the highest 112 wickets in Test cricket against Australia. This record was earlier in the name of leg-spinner Anil Kumble, who took 111 Test wickets.
