IPL 2024: 3 records broken during LSG vs PBKS match

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) defeated Punjab Kings (PBKS) by 21 runs in the match played at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow on Saturday. In the 11th match of IPL, Lucknow, batting first, scored 199 runs after losing eight wickets in 20 overs, thanks to Quinton de Kock's half-century and Nicholas Pooran-Krunal Pandya's stormy innings. So let's know about 3 records broken during LSG vs PBKS match

1. Fastest ball of IPL 2024 - Mayank Yadav

Mayank Yadav

Mayank Yadav surprised everyone by bowling a ball with a speed of 155.8 km per hour against Shikhar Dhawan in his very second over. This not only brought him the world's attention, but he also managed to break a record.

His fast ball of around 156 kmph became the fastest ball in IPL 2024. Earlier this season, the fastest ball was bowled by Nandre Berger at a speed of 153 kmph. Mayank troubled the PBKS batsmen with his pace throughout the innings.

In the match against Lucknow, Shikhar Dhawan and Jonny Bairstow made a century partnership for the opening wicket and kept Punjab Kings in the chase of 200 runs. However, he did not get much support from the middle order and lower middle order batsmen and in the end he lost the match. With this defeat, Punjab Kings have now become the joint most unsuccessful team in chasing a target of 200+ runs in IPL history. This was the 15th time that Punjab failed to chase a target of more than 200 runs, joining Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Delhi Capitals (DC) at the top of the list.

3. Most scores of 50+ while chasing in IPL

Shikhar Dhawan

Shikhar Dhawan played a brilliant inning of 70 runs in 50 balls against LSG. He looked in great form and started putting pressure on the opposition bowlers from the very beginning. This was Dhawan's 53rd 50+ score in the tournament. Of those 53, 23 have come during run-chases, making him the joint-second highest scorer of 50+ in the second innings in IPL history. Dhawan joins Virat Kohli on the list, having scored 23 of his 65 50+ scores in run-chases. On the top of this list is DC's David Warner, who has scored 50+ scores 35 times in run-chases.
