Fans' reactions to India's ODI World Cup 2023 squad have been mixed since the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently revealed the lineup. The announcement took place in the presence of Rohit Sharma, the skipper of the Men in Blue, and Ajit Agarkar, the chairman of the selection committee.
While the squad features several well-known players, it has left a considerable portion of the cricketing community dissatisfied due to the omission of notable figures like Sanju Samson and Tilak Varma. The absence of Samson and Varma has sparked intense debates and discussions among both fans and experts.
It's important to note that Samson has consistently impressed in ODIs, boasting an impressive batting average of 55.7 in the 50-over format. Despite his commendable statistics, Samson was once again overlooked by the Indian selectors, surprising many fans who believed he deserved a spot on the national team.
Similarly, Tilak Varma's absence from the World Cup squad was conspicuous. Although Varma has yet to make his 50-over debut, his recent performances in the shortest format of the game have showcased his immense potential. His inclusion in the Asia Cup 2023 squad had raised fans' hopes, making them believe that he might get an opportunity to represent India on the global stage. However, his exclusion from the World Cup squad left fans disappointed and raised questions about the selection criteria.
Adding to the fans' frustration was the inclusion of Suryakumar Yadav, who has struggled to make an impact in the ODI format, with a rather unimpressive batting average of 24.3. This decision has led many fans to question the selection process and the criteria used to choose the World Cup squad, especially in comparison to the omission of Samson and Varma.
In 2000 we heard of Match fixings now selection fixings came to picture , Selector Ajit Agarkar amd his team selected Non-performer KL Rahul over performers like Tilak Verma and Sanju Samson. So unfair.

IMHO inclusion of KL Rahul and Axar Patel and exclusion of Tilak Varma and leg spinner has spoiled India chances of lifting ODI WC 2023??

Sanju Samson and Tilak Varma deserves place https://t.co/kao8IMzhLq
Garbage squad. Where is Tilak varma? A player who can bowl and bat at any position. We already seen his talent what's the point in giving him a chance in the next odi world cup after bottling this golden chance? https://t.co/u2LKIiboqG
