Former Indian team fast bowler Zaheer Khan can join the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) team before IPL 2025. He can be given the responsibility of team mentor. Before IPL 2024, Gautam Gambhir left LSG and joined Kolkata Knight Riders. Since then the mentor seat of Lucknow is vacant. According to reports, the Lucknow team is in talks with the fast bowler for the role of mentor. If everything goes well, Zaheer can become a part of the LSG team.
Zaheer Khan is the first choice of the team management, because the team's bowling coach Morne Morkel can join Team India as a bowling coach. In such a situation, the fast bowlers of the team can benefit from Zaheer Khan's experience. At the same time, Zaheer Khan has been a part of the team management of Mumbai Indians for a long time. After bowling coach, he has been the Director of Cricket of the Mumbai team. Since 2022, he is the Global Head of Players Development of MI. He has been playing this role for two years.
If Zaheer Khan joins LSG, he will work closely with head coach Justin Langer as well as other coaching staff like Adam Voges, Lansdowne and Jonty Rhodes.
Zaheer Khan has bowled at an economy of 3.27 in 92 Test matches for India and has taken 311 wickets. He has bowled at an economy of 4.93 in 200 ODI matches and has taken 282 wickets. He has also played 17 T20 matches for India and has also taken 17 wickets.
Zaheer Khan also has the experience of playing 100 IPL matches. He has represented Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals), Royal Challengers Bangalore (now Royal Challengers Bangalore) and Mumbai Indians. He played his last IPL match in 2017.
