India's next tour of Australia to defend the Border-Gavaskar Trophy will start differently. The first Test match will be on November 22nd in Perth. This is unusual, as the last two tours started in Adelaide instead.
The India-Australia Test series continues with the second Test match scheduled for December 6th to 10th at the Adelaide Oval, a classic venue that promises an exciting day-night encounter. The series then heads to the Gabba in Brisbane for the third Test, starting on December 14th.
Matches | Dates | Venue | Time (Indian Standard Time) |
---|---|---|---|
First Test | November 22-26 | Perth Stadium, Perth (D) | 7:30 AM IST |
Second Test | December 6-10 | Adelaide Oval, Adelaide (D/N) | 8:30 AM IST |
Third Test | December 14-18 | The Gabba, Brisbane (D) | 5:30 AM IST |
Fourth Test | December 26-30 | MCG, Melbourne (D) | 4:30 AM IST |
Fifth Test | January 3-7 | SCG, Sydney (D) | 4:30 AM IST |
Fans of the iconic Boxing Day and New Year's Tests can rest assured: these traditions remain unchanged. The legendary Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) will host the Boxing Day Test, while the thrilling New Year's Test will take place at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).
The gap between the first and second Tests allows the BCCI to arrange a practice match using the pink ball. This additional match aims to acclimatize Indian players to the challenges of playing with the pink ball under lights, especially in the lead-up to the Day-Night Test at the Adelaide Oval.
This preparation is crucial, considering India's struggles in the previous pink-ball Test at Adelaide, where they were dismissed for a record-low 36 runs in the second innings.
