Virat Kohli's 183 run innings vs Pakistan: Gambhir called Virat Kohli's 183 run match winning innings against Pakistan in the 2012 Asia Cup as the best ODI innings played by any Indian. Gambhir said, 'I am not saying this because I am sitting here. I am calling it the best innings because the kind of team, the kind of bowling, the kind of conditions and playing such an innings against Pakistan while chasing a target of 300+ runs. That was something special that you did.' Let us tell you that Virat single-handedly destroyed the bowling unit consisting of dreaded bowlers like Umar Gul, Shahid Afridi, Saeed Ajmal and Wahab Riaz. Kohli scored a total of 183 runs including 22 fours and 1 six in 148 balls while chasing a target of 330 runs and India won this match by 6 wickets.

Kohli's answer focused on how external factors such as interaction with the opposition can affect a player's mindset. Virat asked Gambhir if interacting with the opposition ever distracted him or, on the contrary, ever motivated him.
