A bizarre glitch on Swiggy Instamart has recently stirred up social media, with some users claiming they received unexpected cash credits ranging from ₹4,000 to a staggering Rs 5 lakh. The revelation, first brought to light by Reddit user @Technical-Relation-9, has led to widespread discussions and speculation.

In a post on the popular subreddit r/India titled 'Someone is losing their job at Swiggy,' the Redditor claimed that numerous users suddenly found large amounts of free money credited to their Swiggy Instamart accounts. According to the post, many took advantage of the glitch to place orders, which were reportedly fulfilled without issue. However, some users later received calls from Swiggy requesting the return of the mistakenly delivered items.

The post also included screenshots that appeared to show evidence of these transactions. While some users expressed excitement over their unexpected windfall, others remained sceptical about the legitimacy of the claims, questioning whether it was a marketing stunt or an actual technical error.

The discussion thread quickly gained traction, with reactions ranging from disbelief to frustration.

  • One user inquired, 'How are you getting that money? Randomly???' to which the original poster (OP) responded, 'Yes, random accounts.'
  • Another speculated that the issue might have stemmed from a misconfigured promotional offer, stating, 'Looks like they released an offer but messed up the probability. Instead of small discounts, some people got thousands.'
  • Meanwhile, some lamented their bad luck, with one user humorously complaining, 'Am I the only unlucky one?' while another remarked, 'Rone ka man kar raha hai bhai. Din bhar so raha tha' (I feel like crying, bro. I slept the whole day).

On the flip side, sceptics questioned whether the entire scenario was a hoax or a calculated marketing move. One user expressed doubt, saying, 'This has to be a marketing gimmick, right? Everyone I know got only Rs 40-Rs 100 off. Has anyone received such a massive discount?'

To counter these doubts, OP reiterated that the screenshots were from real users, asserting, 'Check all the screenshots I posted. These are from actual users.'

As the discussions continue to gain momentum online, Swiggy has yet to issue an official statement regarding the glitch. Media outlets, including Livemint, have reportedly reached out to the company for clarification, but there has been no confirmation or denial of the claims at this time.

If the glitch is indeed real, Swiggy might take steps to recover losses, either by reversing transactions or requesting voluntary returns from users who benefited. In the past, similar technical errors on e-commerce platforms have led to refunds, reversals, or even legal action in extreme cases.

For now, users remain divided between celebrating their unexpected luck, feeling left out, or questioning whether it was all just an elaborate hoax. Regardless, the incident has certainly given Swiggy Instamart a viral moment—whether intentional or not.

As the situation unfolds, this article will be updated with Swiggy’s official response. Until then, the mystery of the ‘free cash’ glitch continues to intrigue and amuse netizens across India.
