Sex Scandal- Prajwal's return to India after 35 days: SIT arrested at Bengaluru Airport
MP Prajwal Revanna, the prime accused in the Karnataka sex scandal, arrived in India from Germany on Thursday night after 35 days. After the flight landed at Kempegowda Airport in Bengaluru, the SIT took him into custody at around 1 am. The team took Prajwal to the CID office, where he was kept overnight.
Before the interrogation on Friday, the SIT took Prajwal to Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital for a medical checkup. His lawyer Arun is also present at the CID office.
After the medical, Prajwal will be presented in the magistrate court. Here the police will demand his custody.
On the other hand, the SIT has issued a notice to Prajwal's mother Bhavani Revanna for questioning. The team has asked her to be present at her home in Holenarasipur on June 1.
Prajwal Hassan is the JDS candidate from the Lok Sabha seat. There are 3 cases of sexual harassment registered against him by 3 women. He went to Germany after voting on 26 April.
Investigating agency may conduct potency test
According to news agency PTI, the SIT is also considering conducting a potency test of Prajwal from time to time. The test is conducted to find out whether the rape accused is capable of sexually assaulting the victim or not. The forensic team will also take Prajwal's audio sample, so that it can be ascertained whether the voice heard in the viral video is Prajwal's or not.
Before coming to India, Prajwal had also filed an anticipatory bail petition in the Sessions Court, which was rejected by the court.
Prajwal had released a video on 27 May.
Prajwal Revanna, accused in the sex scandal in Karnataka, released a video on 27 May and said - 'I will appear before the SIT on 31 May. All the allegations against me are false. I have faith in the court and believe that I will come out of the false cases through the court.'
Grandfather Deve Gowda had warned to return to India
The video of Prajwal's statement to return to India came 3 days after the warning given by former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda and his grandfather on 23 May.
Deve Gowda had said that Prajwal should return to India and face the investigation. There will be no interference from our family in the investigation of this case.
Deve Gowda had said that I am not requesting Prajwal but warning him. If he does not heed this warning, he will have to face my and the entire family's anger.
The law will look into the charges against him, but if he doesn't listen to me, we will leave him alone. If he has any respect for me, he should come back immediately.
Prajwal said- I apologize to my parents, grandfather.
In a video sent to a Kannada TV channel, Prajwal had said, 'I first of all apologize to my parents, my grandfather, Kumaraswamy and my party workers and the people of the state.
I am not telling where I am. When the elections were held on 26th (April), there was no case against me. No SIT was formed then. My foreign trip was already fixed.
So I came to know about it through YouTube and news, then I was also given a notice from SIT through my ex's account. I have 7 days to appear.'
What is Karnataka sex scandal?
Prajwal Revanna was accused of sexual harassment by a woman working in his house. On April 26, several pen drives were found in public places in Bengaluru.
It was claimed that the pen drive contained 3,000 to 5,000 videos in which Prajwal was seen sexually assaulting several women. The faces of the women were also not blurred.
As the matter escalated, the state government formed an SIT. Three FIRs were filed against Prajwal on charges of rape, molestation, blackmailing and threatening.
The SIT investigation revealed that Prajwal had sexually harassed more than 50 women. These women ranged from 22 to 61 years of age.
Out of 50 women, around 12 were raped by forcing them to have sexual relations with them. Other women were lured in different ways and sexual favours were obtained from them.
Prajwal got someone a job as sub-inspector, someone as tehsildar and someone in the food department.
