Maha Kumbh Mela 2025: Shahi Snan Timings:
The timings for Shahi Snan are allotted among the 13 akhadas, which includes the time required to leave the camp, take the ritual bath at the ghat and return. The Mahanirvani and Atal akhadas will start the Shahi Snan first, which is scheduled from 5:15 am to 7:55 am, with 40 minutes allotted for the ritual. After them, the Niranjani and Anand akhadas have been allotted a time from 6:05 am to 8:45 am, which includes the entire process of departure, taking the bath and returning.
While taking bath in Maha Kumbh, householders must take a dip at least 5 times. It is said that if you do not take a dip 5 times, then your religious journey to Kumbh may remain incomplete. While taking bath, remember the gods and goddesses. Also, with folded hands, bow down to Triveni-Ganga, Saraswati and Yamuna Devi as well as Sun God.

History of Maha Kumbh Mela 2025
The origins of the Kumbh Mela lie in Hindu mythology, particularly the legend of Samudra manthan or churning of the ocean. According to ancient scriptures, this cosmic event was a joint effort by the gods and the asuras to obtain amrit, the divine nectar of immortality. During the churning, a kumbha (pot) containing the sacred nectar emerged. To save it from the asuras, Lord Vishnu disguised himself as Mohini and took possession of the pitcher. On the way, a few drops of the nectar fell at four places – Prayagraj, Haridwar, Ujjain and Nashik – making these sites holy. These places now host the Kumbh Mela in turns, making them important pilgrimage sites.
The pilgrims who visit the Kumbh Mela mainly include ascetics, saints, sadhus, sadhvis, kalpvasis and pilgrims from all walks of life. During the Kumbh Mela, there are many ceremonies; the traditional procession of akhadas on elephants, horses and chariots called 'Peshwai', the gleaming swords and rituals of the Naga sadhus during the 'Shahi Snan', and many other cultural activities that attract millions of pilgrims to attend the Kumbh Mela.
