CBSE Class 12 Result: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has officially declared the Class 12 Result 2026 today, May 13. With the results now out, lakhs of students across the country can finally access their scorecards through the official websites, DigiLocker, UMANG app, SMS, and IVRS services.
CBSE Class 12 Result 2026: Overall Performance This Year
According to the official data shared by CBSE, the overall pass percentage for Class 12 students this year stands at 85.20%. In comparison, last year’s pass percentage was 88.39%, showing a decline of 3.19%.
More than 17 lakh students registered for the board examination this year, and over 15 lakh students have successfully cleared the exam.
Girls Shine Again in CBSE 12th Results 2026
Continuing the trend of previous years, girls have once again outperformed boys in the CBSE Class 12 examinations.
- Girls Pass Percentage: 88.86%
- Boys Pass Percentage: 82.13%
Female students surpassed boys by an impressive margin of 6.73%.
CBSE Introduces On-Screen Marking System for Faster Evaluation
For the first time, CBSE adopted the On-Screen Marking (OSM) system as a compulsory part of the evaluation process. Officials stated that the new digital checking system helped improve transparency and speed in the assessment process.

CBSE Class 12 Passing Criteria Explained
To successfully pass the CBSE Class 12 Board Examination, students must secure a minimum of 33% marks in every subject. The passing marks are required separately in both theory and practical examinations.
Compartment Exams 2026: Second Chance for Students
Students who fail in one or two subjects will be eligible to appear for compartment examinations. This gives them an opportunity to clear the exam in the same academic year without losing an academic session.
CBSE is expected to begin the compartment exam application process soon after the result declaration, while the exams are likely to be conducted in June 2026.
