The automaker has shared some details about its upcoming electric car for India at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo event that started on February 1 today. It is said that EV penetration is expected to increase by 2030. It will be introduced in the coming years. Interestingly, group company Skoda Auto has already announced that it is planning to launch its first EV in India this year.
The carmaker has revealed its intention to enter the EV sector in India during the Bharat Mobility Global Expo. Giving information, Piyush Arora, CEO of Skoda Auto Volkswagen India, said that we are actively working on entry-level EV. It requires huge investment.
We need the volume to justify the three million dollar investment for the new product. EV penetration in India will not be that fast, so we are looking at the possibility of exporting that product.
Volkswagen has also hinted at manufacturing electric cars in the country during the India Mobility Global Expo. The company may start manufacturing electric cars in the country in the coming few years. Let us tell you that nothing has been said officially regarding the construction.
