Club de Deportes Santiago Wanderers is a football club based in Valparaíso, Chile, that currently plays in the Chilean Primera División. Wanderers have played their matches at the Estadio Elías Figueroa Brander—which has a capacity of 20,000 spectators—since 1931.
Founded in 1892, it is the oldest club in the country and the oldest football team in both Chile and the Americas. For this reason, Wanderers are known in Chile as the 'Decano del Fútbol Chileno' ("Dean of Chilean Football") and are part of CONMEBOL's 'Club de los 100,' a group comprising Latin American teams established over a century ago. In 2007, the club was declared part of the intangible heritage of Valparaíso. The club's home kit consists of green shirts and socks with white shorts, a design based on the colors of the Irish national football team.
Wanderers share an intense rivalry with their local city neighbors, Everton; the two teams contest the 'Clásico Porteño' (Seaport Derby), which is Chile's oldest derby, dating back to 1916. Historically, Wanderers have been regarded as a working-class club, whereas Everton are associated with wealthy tourists and beach resort areas.
