O'Higgins Football Club, also known as O'Higgins de Rancagua, is a professional Chilean football club. Based in Rancagua, the club currently competes in the 'Liga de Primera'. Its home stadium is 'Estadio El Teniente'; originally opened in 1945, the stadium was renovated for the 2015 Copa América.
Founded in 1955, the club was named in honor of the country's founding father and Supreme Director, Bernardo O'Higgins. This name was adopted following the merger of the 'O'Higgins Braden' and 'América de Rancagua' clubs. O'Higgins has won two 'Primera B' titles. In 2013, under the coaching of Eduardo Berizzo, the team won its first top-flight championship against 'Universidad Católica'; subsequently, in 2014, they won the 'Supercopa de Chile' by defeating 'Deportes Iquique' in a penalty shootout.
