Later that year, he made his first-class debut against Madhya Pradesh. He idolizes Adam Gilchrist.

Goswami opened the innings for the Bangalore Royal Challengers for a few games in the first three editions of the IPL. He was then signed by the Kolkata Knight Riders in 2011 and was retained the following year.
