The opening match of WCL 2026 was played between India Champions and Australia Champions. In this contest held in Sharjah, India Champions batted first.
The start was not particularly impressive, as the top three batsmen Naman Ojha, Ambati Rayudu, and Stuart Binny failed to make a significant impact. However, the performance delivered by Yuvraj Singh after stepping onto the crease proved more than enough to dismantle the Australia Champions.

Apart from these six sixes, Yuvraj Singh also smashed five fours during his innings against Australia Champions in the WCL 2026 opener, scoring 71 runs off 44 balls at a strike rate of 161.36.
Thanks to Yuvraj Singh's powerful 71-run knock, India Champions posted a formidable total of 196 for 7 in their 20 overs. Australia Champions faced a target of 197; while opener D'Arcy Short gave them a strong start, the lack of support from other batsmen led to their defeat.
After Yuvraj's storm, a bowling blitz; Australia Champions defeated
Following Yuvraj Singh's explosive batting display on the Sharjah pitch, Dhawal Kulkarni and Mohit Sharma unleashed a bowling storm that made it difficult for the Australian batsmen to hold their ground. Together, Dhawal and Mohit claimed seven wickets. Dhawal took 4 for 44 in his four overs, while Mohit claimed 3 for 32 in three overs.
Additionally, Piyush Chawla took two wickets, and Harbhajan Singh claimed one. Three Australian batsmen failed to open their accounts, and overall, most struggled to reach double figures. Consequently, India Champions won the match by 46 runs
