The Pakistan Champions have withdrawn from the World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2026, creating fresh controversy around the India-Pakistan cricket rivalry. The decision reportedly came after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) did not issue No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to its players.

According to reports, the PCB had agreed to provide NOCs but placed several conditions before allowing Pakistan's former international players to participate in the tournament. One of the reported demands was that Indian players should submit a written apology for refusing to play against Pakistan in the previous edition.

The development has also resulted in the cancellation of the highly anticipated India Champions vs Pakistan Champions match, which was scheduled for October 10.

WCL 2026: Why Did Pakistan Champions Withdraw From the Tournament?

Pakistan Champions were scheduled to participate in the third season of the World Championship of Legends. However, the team has now withdrawn after reportedly failing to secure NOCs from the PCB.

Reports suggest that the PCB was ready to issue the NOCs but wanted the WCL organisers to accept certain conditions. The disagreement over those conditions eventually led to Pakistan's exit from the competition.

The controversy is believed to be linked to the events of last year's WCL, when India Champions declined to play against Pakistan.

PCB’s Big Condition: Indian Players Asked to Apologise in Writing

One of the most talked-about conditions reportedly put forward by the PCB was a demand for Indian players to apologise in writing.

The apology was reportedly sought over India's decision not to play against Pakistan during the previous edition of the World Championship of Legends.

The PCB also reportedly wanted an assurance regarding interactions between players from the two countries during the tournament.

India-Pakistan Handshake Demand Also Became a Major Issue

Along with the reported apology demand, the PCB is said to have asked for an assurance that Indian and Pakistani players would shake hands during their matches.

The WCL organisers reportedly agreed to some of the conditions put forward by the PCB. However, discussions over the written apology and handshake assurance did not result in an agreement.

With the two sides unable to reach a final understanding, Pakistan Champions ultimately had to withdraw from WCL 2026.

No Agreement on PCB Demands, Pakistan Champions Pull Out of WCL 2026

The disagreement over the reported conditions has now resulted in Pakistan's absence from the third edition of the tournament.

Pakistan Champions' withdrawal is significant because the team had been one of the strongest sides in the competition's history, having reached the final in both previous editions.

The development has once again put the India-Pakistan cricket rivalry at the centre of attention.

India vs Pakistan WCL 2026 Match on October 10 Cancelled

The biggest immediate impact of Pakistan's withdrawal is the cancellation of the India Champions vs Pakistan Champions match.

The two teams were scheduled to face each other on October 10, 2026. However, Pakistan's exit means the much-awaited clash will no longer be played.

The fixture was expected to be one of the biggest attractions of WCL 2026, particularly because matches between former Indian and Pakistani stars have generated considerable interest among fans.

Pakistan Had Reached WCL Final in Both Previous Editions

Pakistan Champions have enjoyed a strong record in the first two seasons of the World Championship of Legends.

In the 2024 edition, Pakistan reached the final but lost to India. The team once again made it to the title clash in 2025, where South Africa Champions defeated Pakistan.

As a result, Pakistan finished as runners-up in both of the first two editions of the competition.

India Champions have already played two matches in the tournament. They started their campaign with a 46-run victory over Australia Champions.

However, the Indian team suffered a 21-run defeat against England Champions in its second match.

Following Pakistan's withdrawal, India's upcoming fixtures have been revised.

Pakistan’s Exit Puts India-Pakistan Cricket Tensions in Spotlight

Pakistan's withdrawal from WCL 2026 has once again highlighted the continuing tensions surrounding India-Pakistan cricket.

The reported disagreement over the PCB's conditions prevented the two teams from meeting in this year's tournament. For fans, the cancellation of the October 10 fixture means another much-awaited India-Pakistan clash will not take place.

Pakistan's absence also means that one of the tournament's regular finalists will not be competing in the remainder of WCL 2026.
