The Women Asia Cup is likely to be held in the UAE; 8 teams will participate in it

Major news has emerged regarding the Women's Asia Cup. This cricket tournament is likely to be held in the UAE between August 28 and September 13. The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has not yet made an official announcement regarding this eight-team tournament; however, they have informally asked all participating nations to prepare based on these dates.

Women's Asia Cup to be played in T20 format

This will be the sixth edition of the T20 Asia Cup, featuring a total of eight teams. Alongside defending champions Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Malaysia, Thailand, and hosts UAE will compete in the tournament. The ACC has not yet officially announced the full schedule, dates, or venues, as they are awaiting final approval from senior officials.

Currently, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi holds the position of ACC chief. It is expected that the official schedule will be released once administrative and procedural formalities are completed.

ACC sent emails to all teams

On July 22, the ACC sent an email to all participating teams, which also included the tournament logo. The email detailed the venues where the matches would be played; the locations for the tournament have largely been finalized. The ACC expects all teams to arrive by August 27, with the final match scheduled for September 13. Participating nations are seeking information on the final schedule from the ACC to arrange travel and accommodation.

Meanwhile, the BCCI hastily announced the Indian squad on Sunday but had to immediately withdraw the announcement due to the lack of an official declaration from the ACC.

Asia Cup to begin on September 17

It is worth noting that another major tournament is also scheduled for September. Women's cricket matches for the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan, are set to be played between September 17 and 24. In such a scenario, if the Asia Cup final concludes on September 13, the Indian players will have very little time for travel and preparation for the Asian Games.

The squad for the tournament has already been announced. It will now be interesting to see how the cricket boards of various nations manage player fatigue and packed schedules.
