Steve Smith has achieved a new milestone in Test cricket. He has become the third-highest run-scorer for Australia in the history of the format. He set this record during the first Test match against South Africa in Durban. Although Smith was dismissed for 25 runs in the first innings of the match, he succeeded in surpassing Steve Waugh.
Before the start of the Durban Test match, Smith had scored 10,920 runs in 125 Test matches. He needed just 8 runs to surpass Steve Waugh. He scored 25 runs in the first innings, bringing his total tally to 10,945 runs, whereas the legendary Steve Waugh had scored 10,927 runs in 168 matches.
