Sri Lanka Announces Squad for ODI Tri-Series: Full Team List

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has announced a 16-member squad for the ODI tri-series to be held in Pakistan. Apart from Sri Lanka and Pakistan, the England team will also participate in this tri-series. Former captain Charith Asalanka, who served as vice-captain during the ODI series against England, has not been selected for the tri-series. Meanwhile, explosive opener Avishka Fernando has made a comeback to the ODI squad.

The tri-series will begin in Rawalpindi on October 18 and run until October 31. Mystery spinner Wanindu Hasaranga had been sidelined due to a hamstring injury sustained during the England tour. Asalanka was part of the leadership group for the England tour and had shouldered the responsibility of vice-captain.

Who is the new captain of the Sri Lanka team?

Asalanka had been removed from the ODI captaincy in May 2026 but was brought back into the leadership group for the England series. Prior to his exclusion from the ODI squad, Asalanka had also not been selected for the T20 series against Pakistan, which is scheduled to begin on October 9.

Following the tri-series, the Sri Lankan team will remain in Pakistan and play three ODIs in Islamabad starting November 4. This will be followed by a two-match Test series between the two teams. This Test series will be part of the ICC World Test Championship 2025-27 cycle. The first Test will be played at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium from November 9 to 13, while the second Test will take place at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore between November 17 and 21.
