South Africa has announced a strong 15-member squad for this crucial series, featuring several significant changes:
- Return of Tony de Zorzi: 29-year-old top-order batter Tony de Zorzi has returned to the side. He had been sidelined for an extended period due to an injury sustained during the ODI series against Australia in September. Now fully fit, he rejoins the squad, replacing David Bedingham.
- Opportunities for Zubayr Hamza and Matthew Breetzke: Zubayr Hamza has been included in the squad as an additional batter. Meanwhile, wicketkeeper Kyle Verreynne has been left out, having spent the entire series against Australia on the bench. Matthew Breetzke has been included as a backup wicketkeeper, while Ryan Rickelton will serve as the primary wicketkeeper in the playing eleven.
- Anrich Nortje’s Fitness: Fast bowler Anrich Nortje, who was sidelined due to a groin injury after playing just one Test against Australia, has now been declared fully fit and is part of the squad. However, fast bowler Lungi Ngidi is still recovering from his injury and has therefore not been selected.
