List of 2026 Wisden Award Winners: India Dominance in the Wisden Awards
The Wisden Cricketers' Almanack has named Mitchell Starc the world's leading male cricketer. He delivered a magnificent performance in the Ashes last year. In the women's category, Deepti Sharma received this honor for playing a pivotal role in India's victory at the 2025 ODI World Cup. Additionally, Wisden also announced its 'Five Cricketers of the Year,' a list that featured four Indian players.
Indian players dominated the list of the 'Five Cricketers of the Year,' selected by Wisden editor Lawrence Booth. This list included Rishabh Pant, Shubman Gill, Ravindra Jadeja, and Mohammed Siraj—all of whom delivered exceptional performances during the tour of England in 2025. This marked Gill's first Test series as captain.
Booth wrote, "Shubman Gill's prodigious run-scoring ability dominated the Anderson-Tendulkar Test series. Gill amassed a total of 754 runs in the series—the highest aggregate ever scored by an Indian player in a single series against England. This tally included two magnificent scores (269 and 161) made at Edgbaston, which were sandwiched between centuries scored at Headingley and Old Trafford."
Abhishek Sharma Named 'Wisden Cricketer of the Year' (T20)
Deepti Sharma received the 'Women's Player of the Year' award for her stellar performance in the Women's ODI World Cup. Deepti was also named the 'Player of the Tournament.' Abhishek Sharma received the 'T20 Cricketer of the Year' award.
Shubman Gill was honored with the Wisden Trophy for the best performance in a single Test match. Gill received this award for scoring 430 runs in a single Test—a match played at Edgbaston, which India won.
Commenting on Rishabh Pant, Lawrence Booth stated, "Pant's fearless and magnificent performance was one of the most memorable moments of this summer. This proved especially true at Headingley, where he played two magnificent innings of 134 and 118 runs. He also dismissed three players, the last of whom he dismissed only after he had already dazzled with the bat."
