Team India's explosive wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan has now become the world's number-1 batsman in the ICC T20 rankings. In the latest ICC rankings update released on Wednesday, Ishan made history by achieving a career-best ranking.
Ishan Kishan surpassed his own teammate Abhishek Sharma, who had held the top spot in the T20 batsman rankings for nearly a year (12 months). Ishan Kishan claimed the number-1 crown following the conclusion of the Ireland tour.

Although Ishan did not fire in the Ireland series, his performance in the recently concluded Men's T20 World Cup was explosive. During the World Cup, this left-handed batsman tore apart opposition bowling attacks, amassing 317 runs at a strike rate of 200. He was also named the 'Aramco Player of the Match' for his match-winning innings against Pakistan in Colombo. This explosive performance boosted his standing in the rankings.
